Learning Objectives​

  1. Key Concepts: Describe the mechanism and components of pain
    • Define pain and nociception
    • Explain the mechanism of nociception
    • Understand the perception of pain (from nociceptive stimulus → pain experience)
    • Understand pain modulation and sensitization

  2. Explain pain modulation and understand the different types of analgesic medications
    • Endogenous opioids
    • Gate Control Theory of pain
    • WHO analgesic ladder
    • Analgesic medications: paracetamol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opioids, adjuvants
    • The role of the nurse

  3. Pain management: The role of the nurse in pain assessment and management
    • The concept of the “Analgesic Corridor”
    • Structured and multidimensional pain assessment (PQRST method)
    • Communicating the patient’s pain to the healthcare team (SBAR)

Assessment and Certificate Issuance​

The course includes:

  • a pre-test,

  • session-based tests,

  • a post-test.

A certificate will be issued to participants who:

  • attend at least 90% of all three sessions,

  • complete the pre-test and the tests provided during the sessions,

  • score 70% or higher on the post-test.

Accreditation

The course is currently in the accreditation process by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.
Additional information regarding the number of CME credits will be provided once the official order is approved.
